Sneaker Size & Fit Guide

Find the right fit before you order. Sneaker sizing can vary between brands and individual models, so there is no single UK-to-US or UK-to-EU conversion that applies perfectly to every pair.

Start with the size shown on the individual product page. Use the conversion tables below as a general reference and check any model-specific fit notes before ordering.

How to measure your feet

Measure both feet while standing, preferably later in the day. Use the measurement from your larger foot when comparing your size.

Step 01

Position your foot

Place a sheet of paper on a flat floor and stand with your heel lightly against a wall.

Step 02

Measure heel to toe

Mark the end of your longest toe and measure from the heel to that point.

Step 03

Check both feet

Repeat on the other foot and use the larger measurement when choosing your size.

Men's & Unisex Sneaker Size Conversion

Use this table as a general UK sneaker sizing reference. Brand-specific sizing can differ, so these conversions should not be treated as exact for every sneaker.

Why the same UK size can convert differently

Sneaker brands use different lasts, conversion systems and size labels. That means the same UK size can correspond to different US, EU or centimetre values depending on the brand.

Example UK 8

One UK size. Different brand conversions.

Compare the UK 8 examples below to see why yiodesigner does not use a single universal UK-to-US conversion for every sneaker.

Brand UK US Men's EU CM / Length shown by brand
Nike 8 9 42.5 CM/JP 27; foot ≈26.2 cm
adidas 8 8.5 42 heel-to-toe 25.9 cm
Saucony 8 9 42.5 JPN 27 cm
New Balance 8 8.5 42 26.5 cm
Gucci 8 8.5 42 JP 27 cm

Fit advice before you order

Model-specific fit

Fit varies by model. Where a sneaker is known to fit narrow, roomy, small or large, you'll find specific sizing advice on the individual product page.

Between two sizes

If your measurement falls between sizes, choosing the larger size is generally the safer option unless the product page gives different fit guidance.

Centimetre sizing

CM, JP and foot-length measurements are not presented in exactly the same way by every brand. Always read the relevant brand or product sizing information before comparing centimetre values.

Sneaker sizing questions

Are UK and US men's sneaker sizes always one size apart?
No. The difference varies by brand. For example, a UK 8 converts to US 9 for Nike and Saucony, while adidas, New Balance and Gucci commonly show UK 8 as US 8.5.
Should I use my UK, US or EU sneaker size?
Use the sizing shown on the individual product page as your primary reference. The conversion chart on this page is designed as a general guide rather than an exact conversion for every sneaker brand.
What should I do if I am between two sneaker sizes?
Choosing the larger size is generally the safer option when your measurement falls between sizes, unless the individual product page provides different fit guidance.
Does the centimetre measurement mean the same thing for every brand?
No. Some brands display CM or JP label sizing differently from measured foot length. Use centimetre values together with the relevant brand conversion rather than assuming they are identical across every sneaker.
Can I return sneakers if the size is not right?
Eligible unworn items can be returned within 14 days of delivery, subject to the yiodesigner Return & Refund Policy.
